This is a simple trick achieved with the help of CorelDRAW Envelope tool. Use this technique to simulate a realistic text perspective on a corner of a wall in your web-to-print and dynamic imaging templates.

Before you start

• Import the background image (photo of a corner wall) in your CorelDRAW template document;
• Input the dummy text and turn it into variable web-to-print field.

In a nutshell, we’re going to use CorelDRAW Envelope tool to shape the dummy text frame simulating the wall’s perspective.

Text frame

Select the dummy text frame, set its horizontal alignment and activate CorelDRAW’s Envelope tool from the toolbox menu on the left.

You should see the corner and side nodes around the dummy text frame. By default, CorelDRAW Envelope tool will assign Cusp nodes (circled red in the image) at the corners of the text frame and Smooth nodes (circled blue in the image) on the sides.

Select and drag the nodes on the left and right side of the text frame towards to perspective points of the background image.

Note. Having a brick wall as a background image will make your life a lot easier since you can use the edges of the bricks as perspective reference.

For this technique, you’ll need to convert the top and bottom side nodes to Cusp. With CorelDRAW Envelope tool active and the text frame selected, select those two nodes and click the Make Node a Cusp icon in the top settings bar.

You can now drag the arrows of the node independently to create a corner.

The result should be similar to this.

Note. You can achieve best corner perspectives using squared fonts rather than rounded ones with this technique.

Transparency

Lets make the text blend in with the background a bit better. Select the dummy text frame, activate CorelDRAW Transparency Tool and assign a 50% uniform transparency to it with the Saturation transparency operation.

The result should be similar to this.
