Tips and tricks on how to add a perspective to the texts in your web-to-print templates and make them appear more realistic and blended with the background.

Before you start

• Add a page frame (Layout/Page Setup/Add Page Frame). This will create a rectangular shape with the exact same size as the paper size of your template and place it as a bottom layer.
• Import the image that you will use as background and place it inside the background frame as a PowerClip.
• Select the PowerClip and convert it to a bitmap image.

Perspective effect

Input the dummy text and turn it into a variable web-to-print field.

Select the text and go to Effects/Add Perspective.

Notice the grid that is formed on top of the text frame? Use the Shape tool (F10) to drag the corners around till you achieve the desired perspective illusion.

Use edges from the background image as a reference while adjusting the perspective.

The result should be something similar to this.

PowerClip

Now let’s make the text blend with the background image.

Copy the background image and go to right click/edit bitmap.

This opens Corel’s PHOTO-PAINT application for editing images. Press Ctrl+B to adjust the Brightness/Contrast/Intensity of the image, save the changes and exit the application.

The result should be something similar to this.

Select the edited image and place it inside the text as a PowerClip (Effects/PowerClip/Place Inside Container).

Note. After placing the image inside the text, right click on the text object, go to edit contents, click on the image and press “P” on the keyboard to center it on the page. This will ensure a correct alignment with the background image.
